The prognostic value of MRI-detected extramural vascular invasion (mrEMVI) for rectal cancer patients treated with neoadjuvant therapy: A meta-analysis
European Radiology May 19, 2021
Chen S, Li N, Tang Y, et al. - A meta-analysis was performed to explore the prognostic value of MRI-detected extramural vascular invasion (mrEMVI) and mrEMVI after neoadjuvant therapy (ymrEMVI) in rectal cancer patients receiving neoadjuvant therapy. Researchers carried out a systematic search of the PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases up to June 2020. They enrolled a total of 2,237 patients from 11 studies. It was shown that mrEMVI and ymrEMVI positivity are poor prognostic factors for rectal cancer patients treated with neoadjuvant therapy. The findings revealed that the precise assessment of EMVI may contribute to designing individualized treatments and improving patient outcomes.
