The prognostic value of lymph node ratio in survival of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma
Journal of Research in Medical Sciences May 06, 2018
Samani RE, et al. - The purpose of this study was to identify the prognostic factors of patients diagnosed with aerodigestive squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) who underwent surgery and lymph node dissection. Researchers examined the prognostic value of lymph node ratio (LNR) on overall survival (OS), disease-free survival (DFS), and locoregional failure-free survival (LFFS). Findings displayed that LNR >0.06 served as a significant prognostic factor for lower OS of patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). More intensive adjuvant therapies were recommended such as chemotherapy with radiotherapy and short interval follow-up for patients with LNR >0.06.
