The prognostic value of late gadolinium enhancement in myocarditis and clinically suspected myocarditis: Systematic review and meta-analysis
European Radiology Feb 15, 2020
Yang F, Wang J, Li W, et al. - A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to assess the prognostic value of late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) in myocarditis and clinically suspected myocarditis. Researchers searched PubMed, Ovid Medline, Embase, Web of Science and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials. The study estimated pooled odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) to assess the prognostic value of LGE. In this meta-analysis, eight articles were included recruiting a total of 1,319 individuals (mean age, 38.8 ± 12.9 years). The results of this study indicated that positive LGE is a powerful prognosticator of adverse outcomes in myocarditis and clinically suspected myocarditis, irrespective of left ventricular ejection fraction.
