The prognostic value and regulatory mechanisms of microRNA-145 in various tumors: A systematic review and meta-analysis of 50 studies
Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention Apr 25, 2019
Xu L, et al. - Via analyzing 48 articles containing 50 studies, researchers comprehensively estimated the prognostic significance and regulatory mechanisms of miR-145 in various malignant tumors. They identified relevant studies from multiple online databases. The primary endpoints were overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival. For patients suffering from various malignant tumors, unfavorable prognostic outcomes were predicted by downregulated miR-145 in tumor tissues or peripheral blood. Findings also revealed the involvement of miR-145 in multiple tumor-related pathways and the functioning of important biological consequences. Overall, there was a significant correlation of miR-145 (a well-demonstrated tumor suppressor) expression level with the prognosis of patients with multiple malignant tumors. In colorectal cancer, ovarian cancer, gastric cancer, glioma, and osteosarcoma, there was a link between downregulation of miR-145 and unfavorable OS.
