The prognostic prediction role of preoperative serum albumin level in patients with intahepatic cholangiocarcinoma following hepatectomy
Digestive Diseases Apr 25, 2018
Shen J, et al. - Researchers sought to assess the role of preoperative serum albumin (ALB) in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) patients who underwent liver resection. They noted a higher preoperative serum ALB level to be associated with better long-term survival in ICC patients. In multivariate analysis, the ALB level as continuous variable remained a favorable factor for disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS). In addition, ALB could distinguish the prognoses in non-cirrhotic patients. Multivariate analysis also yielded other pathological risk factors (such as lymph node involvement, positive surgical margin, satellite lesions, and carbohydrate antigen 19-9) to be associated with DFS and OS.
