The prognosis of non-small cell lung cancer combined with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis
The Clinical Respiratory Journal Feb 08, 2020
Wu K, et al. - Researchers assessed the impact of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) combined with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) on prognosis, by performing a systematic review and meta-analysis. Studies published from 1950 to 2019 were identified from PubMed, Web of Science and the Medline. The studies that described the prognosis of COPD with NSCLC were included. Overall 12 case-control studies were analyzed. Findings of meta-analyses revealed poorer OS related to concomitant COPD vs patients without COPD. Significant heterogeneity was noted across studies. This implies that there exists an influence of concomitant COPD on prognosis as well as survival rates of SCLC patients.
