The prevalence of psychological comorbidity in people with vitiligo: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Osinubi O, et al. - Authors ascertained how commonly psychological symptoms such as depression and anxiety occurred in people with vitiligo, by looking at all relevant published studies from around the world. A range of psychological symptoms or disorders were experienced by the people living with vitiligo. Depression was seen in approximately 1 in 4 people with vitiligo and at least 1 in 7 had anxiety. Nonetheless, compared to the people with psoriasis, they were significantly less likely to show symptoms of depression. During clinical evaluation of vitiligo patients, assessment of psychological state as suggested by the British Association of Dermatologists’ guidelines, was important. For clinical evaluation of people with other skin conditions, the same could be said.
