Urology Sep 06, 2019
Pekala KR, Pelzman D, Theisen KM, et al. - A retrospective review of adults diagnosed with adult acquired buried penis (AABP) and penile cancer was done between January 2008 and December 2018 in order to ascertain the prevalence of penile cancer in patients with AABP. A total of 150 patients with a diagnosis of AABP were recognized. Of penile squamous cell carcinoma, the prevalence was 7%. A 35% rate of premalignant lesions was observed. in conclusion, AABP is a condition that includes various risk factors for penile cancer. The prevalence of penile cancer seems to be greater in patients with AABP, nevertheless, more data are required to validate these initial findings. Individuals with AABP should be directed about such risks and if a physical examination cannot be done, they should be acknowledged for buried penis repair.
