The prevalence of Eustachian tube dysfunction symptoms in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis
International Forum of Allergy & Rhinology Dec 15, 2017
Tangbumrungtham N, et al. - An inquiry was set up with regard to the cross-sectional prevalence of Eustachian tube dysfunction (ETD) in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) using the validated Eustachian Tube Dysfunction Questionnaire (ETDQ-7). Furthermore, the authors sought to associate ETDQ-7 scores with 22-item Sino-Nasal Outcome Test (SNOT-22) scores, endoscopy scores, and computed tomography (CT) scores. A high prevalence of symptoms of ETD was noted among patients with CRS, which was documented by patient-reported outcome measures. A moderately strong link was disclosed between ETDQ-7 scores and SNOT-22 ear subdomain scores. On the other hand, the connection between ETDQ-7 scores and SNOT-22 scores was found to be moderate. ETD severity did not display a link with computed tomography (CT) score or nasal endoscopy score.
