The prevalence and morphometric analysis of ossified superior transverse scapular ligaments in patients with rotator cuff tears
Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Jan 12, 2018
Kim JY, et al. - This research was implemented to assess the prevalence of ossified superior transverse scapular ligaments (OSTSLs) in rotator cuff tears (RCTs) and to find out the correlation between OSTSL morphology and supraspinatus muscle atrophy. As per findings, OSTSLs were detected in 1 of 10 patients with RCTs; higher rate of OSTSLs was reported among men and with increasing age. Data also suggested that preoperative detection of OSTSLs via 3-dimensional (3D) computed tomography (CT) would be useful for the resection for patients with RCTs preparing to undergo arthroscopic superior transverse ligament resection.
