The preoperative neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio is not a marker of prostate cancer characteristics but is an independent predictor of biochemical recurrence in patients receiving radical prostatectomy
Cancer Medicine Feb 01, 2019
Cao Z, et al. - In this retrospective study, researchers evaluated the relationship between the preoperative neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and the clinicopathological features, biomolecular features and prognosis of patients with localized prostate cancer treated with radical prostatectomy. A total of 994 subjects were enrolled retrospectively and histological specimens of 210 patients were retrieved for a tissue microarray. According to findings, NLR cannot reflect the characteristics of prostate cancer or local immune microenvironment, but high NLR can independently predict better biochemical recurrence.
