The preoperative C‐reactive protein–lymphocyte ratio and the prognosis of oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma
Head & Neck May 28, 2021
Ko CA, Fang KH, Hsu CM, et al. - In this study, the utility of preoperative C‐reactive protein (CRP)–lymphocyte ratio (CLR) as a prognostic biomarker in oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) was inquired. A retrospective analysis of 316 patients with OSCC managed with curative surgery, was conducted. Relative to other inflammatory combinations, CLR cutoff of 3.88 displayed optimal prognostic performance. There was not only a significant link of a higher preoperative CLR (≥3.88) with clinicopathological aggressiveness, but also unfavorable overall survival and disease‐free survival were predicted by it. In the light of these findings, peoperative CLR was concluded as a feasible prognostic biomarker in OSCC, and experts suggest the likely utility of the CLR‐based nomogram as a prognostic instrument in the era of personalized medicine.
