The predictive value of impulse oscillometry for asthma exacerbations in childhood: A systematic review and meta‐analyses
Pediatric Pulmonology Mar 29, 2021
Ling Y, Si M, Niu Y, et al. - Since several studies have explored the predictive value of impulse oscillometry for asthma exacerbations in childhood, however, its specific parameters remain unknown, researchers conducted this systematic review and meta‐analyses to determine the related indicators of acute asthma attacks. A comprehensive literature search was conducted on July 9, 2020, based on PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science database. In total, 615 patients from six trials were involved in this analysis. Findings suggested that R5, AX, Fres, and X5 may be able to predict the likelihood of an acute asthma attack. Furthermore, the study found that peripheral airway injury may play a significant role in an acute asthma attack.
