The pathogenic role of CD4 + tissue-resident memory T cells bearing T follicular helper-like phenotype in pemphigus lesions
Journal of Investigative Dermatology Apr 18, 2021
Zou Y, Yuan H, Zhou S, et al. - Researchers sought to examine the contributions of CD4 + T RM cells to the severity and refractoriness of pemphigus and their role in local immunological pathogenesis. The data exhibited that CD4 + T RM cells accumulated significantly in pemphigus skin lesions. The findings show that T follicular helper-like CD4+ TRM cells in pemphigus lesions promote local autoantibody production, resulting in the formation and recurrence of lesions, implying that targeting this cell subset in pemphigus treatment may be beneficial. IRF4 could be used as a therapeutic target.
