The outcomes of anatomical lung resection for nontuberculous mycobacterial lung disease

Sakane T, et al. - Clinical characteristics and behavior of nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) lung disease were determined, and the outcomes of surgical management were also analyzed. It was feasible to perform surgical resection to treat NTM lung disease. Furthermore, surgical resection was associated with favorable outcomes, although there was 1 case of hospital mortality. For the treatment of NTM lung disease, video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery procedures were considered adequate, however, the surgical indications must be carefully considered.
