The nasopharyngeal microbiota of children with respiratory infections in Botswana

Kelly MS, et al. – This report focused on the nasopharyngeal microbiota of children with respiratory infections. Findings suggested that pneumonia and upper respiratory infection symptoms were associated with distinct nasopharyngeal microbiota biotypes in African children. Accumulated evidence indicated that a lower abundance of the commensal genus Dolosigranulum might contribute to the higher pneumonia risk of HIV–infected children.
