The multidisciplinary treatment of osteosarcoma of the proximal tibia: A retrospective study
BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders Sep 10, 2018
Huang J, et al. - Researchers evaluated the effectiveness and prognosis of neoadjuvant chemotherapy and custom-designed endoprosthetic arthroplasty via evaluating 69 patients with osteosarcoma of the proximal tibia, including 43 males and 26 females, treated with multidisciplinary limb-salvage care from October 2003 to December 2013. Intraoperative measurement of resection lengths ranged from 80 to 230 mm, with 3 cm of normal bone around the tumor. All cases received a total of three courses of preoperative chemotherapy. An overall positive outcome with better function was achieved with multidisciplinary treatment.
