BMC Pulmonary Medicine Jan 28, 2018
Dai RX, et al. - Characteristics and mortality risk factors for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients hospitalized with community acquired pneumonia (CAP) were investigated herein. Compared with those without COPD, a higher rate of need for non-invasive mechanical ventilation (NIMV), need for ICU admission and severity scores were reported among COPD patients hospitalized with CAP. In CAP patients comorbid with COPD, mortality risk factors included aspiration, D-dimer > 2.0 μg/mL, comorbid with coronary heart disease, need for NIMV and CURB-65 ≥ 3.
