The midterm results of coronary endarterectomy in patients with diffuse coronary artery disease
Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery Jul 29, 2018
Qiu Z, et al. - Researchers assessed the early and mid-term graft patency of concomitant coronary artery endarterectomy (CE) and coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Included subjects had complete operative records, good graft flow during surgery, and were discharged and followed-up for one-year/ three-year. Findings demonstrated safety as well as the feasibility of CE for a select group of patients with excellent mid-term survival rates and graft patency rates among patients with diffuse coronary disease. Better overall results were observed when performed on the left anterior descending (LAD), and grafted over with the left internal mammary artey (LIMA). Both on-pump and off-pump surgery offered similar outcomes. CE afforded an alternative option of coronary artery reconstruction and complete coronary revascularization for a select group of patients.
