Lezaic N, et al. - Via a systematic review and meta-analysis of 10 studies, comprising 1,999 elderly individuals with epilepsy, the contributors intended to evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of antiepileptic drugs (AEDs). Among the elderly with epilepsy, lamotrigine was known as a better tolerated relative to carbamazepine. The efficacy and/or tolerability of other AEDs, including brivaracetam, gabapentin, lacosamide, perampanel, and topiramate were evident in the elderly via a single study. Hence, some evidence for AED use were concluded in the elderly with epilepsy.
