The majority of irregular menstrual cycles in adolescence are ovulatory: Results of a prospective study

Pena AS, et al. - Researchers undertook this analysis in order to determine the presence of ovulation in healthy postmenarcheal girls with irregular menstrual cycles. Data disclosed that 82.5% girls ovulated during the 3 months of observation and 7 girls had anovulatory cycles. Hence, regardless of irregular and infrequent menses, a significant proportion of healthy adolescent girls with irregular menstrual cycles were still ovulating.
