Journal of Arthroplasty Apr 09, 2020
Takaoka Y, et al. - This study was a the outcomes of a double-tapered cemented stem made of β-titanium alloys (Ti-15Mo-5Zr-3Al) at least 10 years after total hip arthroplasty (THA). between January 2004 and August 2008 A total of 148 consecutive, primary THAs using this stem performed in 130 patients were retrospectively analyzed. A sum 140 hips (in 123 patients) were also clinically and radiologically followed for an average of 12.2 years (10 to 15). The study found excellent clinical outcomes of the femoral stems with survival at 10 years. The results were not influenced by stem subsidence and distal femoral cortical hypertrophy. Long-term use of β-titanium alloy stems was found to be safe and effective.
