The long-term effects of bariatric surgery on female urinary incontinence
European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology Oct 11, 2018
Anglim B, et al. - Researchers investigated the impact of bariatric surgery on female urinary incontinence (UI) at twelve months post-operatively via performing a prospective cohort study of all patients undergoing bariatric surgery who reported UI between January 2008 to January 2017. Findings suggest the achievement of a clinically significant long-term improvement in UI in correlation to undergoing bariatric surgery, with a significant cure rate at one year post bariatric surgery. Post-operative body mass index reduction showed no correlation with the improvement in severity score noted in the Incontinence Questionnaire.
