BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Apr 14, 2021
Simons NE, Leeuw M, van’t Hooft J, et al. - Researchers conducted a systematic review with the aim to determine long‐term effects of prenatal progesterone treatment on child development. From MEDLINE, Embase and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, they identified 388 papers; of these, seven articles based on five RCTs, comprising 4,222 measurements of children aged 6 months to 8 years, were included. Findings yielded no evidence of benefit or harm in offspring prenatally exposed to progesterone treatment for the prevention of preterm birth.
