The iris signal: Blue periphery, tan collaret and freckles pattern - strong indicators for epidermal skin cancer in South-Eastern Europe
Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology Apr 05, 2018
Grigore M, et al. - Researchers aimed to probe which iris color pattern was related to epidermal skin cancer in a South-Eastern European Caucasian population. They noted that the hypothesis stating that blue periphery with light brown collaret and freckles iris pattern was a reliable phenotypic marker for epidermal skin cancer, was sustained in this study. Findings demonstrated a difference from the previous reports suggesting skin cancer risk was related to a homogeneous blue iris. These differences were accounted in the characteristics of the recruited patients (S-E European, skin type II and III). For skin cancer risk assessment, the assessment of iris color patterns was an easy and inexpensive detection tool.
