The interobserver reliability of the diagnosis and classification of scaphoid fractures using high-resolution peripheral quantitative CT
The Bone & Joint Journal Apr 03, 2020
Daniels AM, Wyers CE, Janzing HMJ, et al. - This study primary examined the interobserver agreement of high-resolution peripheral quantitative CT (HR-pQCT) in the diagnosis of a scaphoid fracture and secondly, the interobserver agreement was evaluated for the presence of other fractures and for the classification of scaphoid fracture. The HR-pQCT scans of 31 individuals with a clinically-suspected scaphoid fracture were assessed by two radiologists and two orthopaedic trauma surgeons. Applying Fleiss kappa statistics, the interobserver agreement for the diagnosis of a fracture was estimated. Via intraclass correlation coefficients, the agreement for the classification of scaphoid fracture was investigated. In patients with a clinically-suspected fracture, the diagnosis of scaphoid and other fractures is feasible when using HR-pQCT.
