The influences of anesthesia methods on some complications after orthopedic surgery: A Bayesian network meta-analysis
BMC Anesthesiology Apr 15, 2019
Zeng Y, et al. - Researchers analyzed 23 studies with 2393 patients, to determine the impact of various anesthesia methods on the complications following orthopedic surgery. They applied searching strategy and identified anesthesia associated studies in orthopedic surgery from Pubmed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library up to Mar. 10th, 2018. They derived complications and demographic data and evaluated quality of studies by using Cochrane Collaboration recommendations. The network meta-analysis was carried out by using ADDIS software. Findings revealed the efficacy of nerve block analgesia in reliving the occurrence of post-operative nausea or vomiting and urine retention. Relief in back pain was seen with interscalene block and local infiltration analgesia vs epidural anesthesia.
