The influence of hemodialysis membrane permeability on serum procalcitonin values in patients on maintenance hemodialysis

The International Journal of Artificial Organs Nov 16, 2017

Aatif T, et al. - This inquiry was set up to examine the impact of hemodialysis (HD) membrane permeability to procalcitonin (PCT) serum levels in noninfected HD patients on maintenance HD. As a diagnostic marker for systemic bacterial infection, PCT displayed utility. However, in patients with renal failure undergoing HD, specific reference ranges are required to be developed. Importantly, the interpretation of PCT serum levels must be carried out according to the HD membrane permeability.
