The influence of dietary supplementation with cranberry tablets on the urinary risk factors for nephrolithiasis
World Journal of Urology Jul 26, 2018
Redmond EJ, et al. - Researchers conducted this study to gauge how urinary oxalate excretion is influenced by cranberry supplementation. They randomized 15 participants to receive cranberry tablets alone or cranberry tablets containing vitamin C. The median age of the participants included in the study was 27 years (21–43). Findings suggested an increase in urinary oxalate excretion with dietary supplementation with cranberry; in patients at risk of urolithiasis, it should be avoided. The 24-hour urine volume did not differ before or after taking cranberry tablets.
