The impact of time to metastasis on overall survival in patients with prostate cancer
World Journal of Urology Mar 02, 2018
Frees S, et al. - The impact of time to metastasis on overall survival (OS) in patients with prostate cancer was determined. The findings suggested a notable decrease in OS when metastases were present at the time of diagnosis compared to castration-resistant or after (CRPC-M) and castration resistance (CSPC-M). The time from diagnosis to CRPC (all patients) and time to metastasis for CRPC-M and CSPC-M patients were noted to be the significant prognosticators of OS and were therefore valid surrogates in a study setting. Hence, for as long as possible, the time to CRPC should be prolonged.
