Clinical Interventions in Aging | Jun 03, 2018
Radziminska A, et al. - Researchers performed a literature review to ascertain the effectiveness of pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) in the treatment of urinary incontinence (UI) in women, with a particular focus on the impact of this form of therapy on the patients’ quality of life (QoL). They selected 24 studies that assessed the impact of PFMT on the QoL of women with UI among 2,394 women. Results demonstrated PFMT as an effective treatment for UI in women. With PFMT, the QoL of women with UI significantly improved, which is an important determinant of their physical, mental, and social functioning.
