Kok B, et al. - The relationship between obesity and mortality was investigated in cirrhotic patients admitted to the intensive care unit with septic shock. In cirrhosis, septic shock carried a high mortality. Among critically-ill cirrhotics, increased body mass index was common and independently correlated with increased in-hospital mortality.
