The impact of Narcotrend EEG-guided propofol administration on the speed of recovery from pediatric procedural sedation: A randomized controlled trial
Paediatric Anaesthesia Apr 05, 2018
Weber F, et al. - Researchers determined the effect of Narcotrend Index-guided titration of propofol delivery on the speed of recovery in children, aged 12-17 years, undergoing gastrointestinal endoscopy under procedural sedation. Faster recovery, less drug consumption, and fewer episodes of oversedation were achieved with Narcotrend Index-guided propofol delivery for deep sedation vs dosing propofol according to clinical surrogate parameters of depth of hypnosis in this age group of pediatric population underdoing gastrointestinal endoscopy. Additional evidence was provided, in this study, in favor of the safety profile of propofol/remifentanil for procedural sedation in adequately selected pediatric patients.
