The impact of maternal antibiotics on neonatal disease

Reed BD, et al. - During this research, authors attempted to evaluate the consequence of prenatal exposure to maternal antibiotics on the risk of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), late onset sepsis (LOS), and death in infants born preterm. A correlation was exhibited between prenatal antibiotic exposure with lower rates of NEC or death of infants born preterm but not LOS, although protection was prominent for the combined outcome.
