The impact of intensifying prostate cancer screening in black men: A model- based analysis
Journal of the National Cancer Institute May 12, 2021
Nyame YA, Gulati R, Heijnsdijk EAM, et al. - This study was intended to calculate the benefit and harm of intensified prostate-specific antigen screening in Black men. Black men had similar mean lead time to men of all races, and similar mortality reduction but a higher frequency of overdiagnosis under historical population screening. In Black men, annual screening is expected to decrease mortality more than that estimated under historical screening. In this study, limiting screening to men below 70 years is expected to help to decrease overdiagnosis.
