The impact of frailty on ICU and 30-day mortality and the level of care in very elderly patients (≥ 80 years)

Flaatten H, et al. - This study assessed short-term outcome in the very elderly ICU patients in relation to frailty versus other variables, using the Clinical Frailty Scale. Findings revealed an inverse association of consecutive classes in Clinical Frailty Scale with short-term survival among very old ICU patients (≥ 80 years). Also, the scale had a very low number of missing data. Clinical assessment of this patient group should include frailty.
