The impact of external fixation on mortality in patients with an unstable pelvic ring fracture: A propensity-matched cohort study
The Bone & Joint Journal Feb 06, 2018
Ohmori T, et al. - In this trial, the authors aimed to evaluate the efficacy of external fixation (EF) of pelvic fractures in reducing the mortality of patients with an unstable pelvic ring fracture. Additionally, they identified the isolated unstable pelvic ring fractures for excluding the possibility of loss of blood from other injuries. Data demonstrated an association between a notably lower risk of death with the use of EF for treating unstable pelvic ring fractures, especially in cases of severe fractures.
