Journal of Arthroplasty Jul 01, 2018
Teo BJX, et al. - Researchers ascertained if diabetes affects infection risk, functional outcomes, patient-reported outcome measures (PROM) and patient satisfaction after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Findings suggested no less satisfaction of diabetic patients despite poorer physical scores throughout. These patients demonstrated significantly greater improvement in mental well-being and weight reduction after surgery. Experts did not note any difference in the range of motion (ROM), length of hospitalization stay (LOS), infection risk and patient satisfaction.
