The impact of computed tomography-assessed sarcopenia on outcomes for trauma patients – A systematic review and meta-analysis

Xia W, et al. - The value of computed tomography-assessed sarcopenia in predicting mortality in trauma patients was investigated. Searching EMBASE, MEDLINE and CENTRAL databases, researchers identified 1984 relevant records. Of these, 20 retrospective observational studies were included for qualitative analysis. The meta-analysis included 10 of these observational studies consisting of 2867 patients. As per outcomes, sarcopenic trauma patients display a significant increase in in-hospital, 30-day and 1-year mortality.
