The impact of cardiac rehabilitation and secondary prevention programs on 12-month clinical outcomes: A linked data analysis
Heart, Lung, and Circulation Apr 18, 2019
Astley CM, et al. – In this retrospective cohort study, researchers investigated whether cardiovascular readmission, morbidity, and mortality are influenced by cardiac rehabilitation (CR) attendance. Patients who received CR between 2013 and 2015 were compared with respect to their features and outcomes via linkage of CR databases to hospital administrative datasets. The investigators found lower cardiovascular readmission among referred/attended patients. No difference in composite outcomes was evident following clinical and social factors adjustment; however, there was a link between attendance and reduced cardiovascular readmission.
