The impact of associated tenotomies on the outcome of incomplete phalangeal osteotomies for lesser toe deformities
Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research Sep 20, 2019
Nieto-García E, et al. - Experts aspired to explore whether the connection of tenotomies to incomplete or partial phalanx osteotomies has a significant impact on the clinical results, the occurrence of complications, and the recovery time after surgery. The study sample consisted of 223 patients (mean age was 59 years). The cohort without tenotomies exhibited better recovery at 12-month follow-up. The authors discovered that the performance of associated tenotomies to incomplete phalanx osteotomies offers worse clinical results, higher complication rates, and longer recovery time as compared with similar forefoot surgeries without tenotomies.
