Annals of Surgery Apr 18, 2018
Verhagen T, et al. - Considering the 11% of patients who develop chronic discomfort after open inguinal herniorraphy, researchers performed a comparison of the two suggested treatment options (tender point infiltration (TPI) and neurectomy). They recognized a tailored neurectomy as 3 times more effective than tender point infiltration in chronic inguinodynia after anterior inguinal hernia mesh repair. They advised undertaking a step up treatment stratagem starting with tender point infiltration followed by a tailored neurectomy.
