The frequency of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug hypersensitivity in children with asthma
International Archives of Allergy and Immunology Apr 03, 2018
Guvenir H, et al. - Researchers determined the frequency of confirmed nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug hypersensitivity (NSAID-H) among children with asthma given asthma is one of the risk factors for NSAID-H in adult patients. They also assessed the classification of NSAID-H in this asthmatic pediatric population. Compared with the control group (healthy children), the reported frequency of NSAID-H was more among children with asthma. Six of the 9 (in whom NSAID-H was confirmed and who were tested with the suspected drugs) were classified as “single NSAID-induced urticaria/angioedema or anaphylaxis” and 3 were classified as “NSAIDs-exacerbated respiratory disease.” It was recommended to perform assessments in asthmatic children for reactions to NSAIDs during hospital visits.
