Carlson RD, et al. - The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between the female genital tract (FGT) microbiome and antiretroviral concentrations in the FGT. Researchers identified that certain FGT microbiome community types (mCTs) had an association with decreased FGT antiretroviral concentrations. These findings seemed to have implication for optimizing antiretrovirals used for biomedical HIV prevention in women.
