The factors associated with the early diagnosis of nasal NK/T-cell lymphoma with prominent ocular symptoms and general nasal NKTL
American Journal of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Medicine and Surgery Feb 01, 2019
Hu Z, et al. - In this retrospective cohort study, 278 candidates from the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University between January 2011 and December 2017 were analyzed to examine the clinical characteristics of nasal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (NKTL) in those with prominent ocular symptoms and those with general nasal NKTL to improve early diagnosis of nasal NKTL. Researchers observed 29.3% of misdiagnosis rate of the first visit of cases with general nasal NKTL and 51.8% for subjects with prominent ocular symptoms. They also noted candidates with nasal NKTL and prominent ocular symptoms have a higher positive rate of EBV DNA, significantly linked with staging. Early diagnosis of patients with prominent ocular symptoms is easily misdiagnosed vs patients with general nasal NKT.
