The evaluation of a noninvasive respiratory volume monitor in pediatric patients undergoing general anesthesia
Anesthesia & Analgesia Nov 23, 2017
Gomez-Morad AD, et al. - New advances in technology and digital signal processing have led to the development of an impedance-based respiratory volume monitor (RVM, ExSpiron, Respiratory Motion, Inc, Waltham, MA). In a pediatric population included in this prospective observational study, researchers investigated the accuracy of RVM for measuring tidal volume (TV), respiratory rate (RR), and minute ventilation (MV). According to findings, in pediatric mechanically-ventilated patients, there was acceptable agreement between RVM and NM3 (an in-line monitoring spirometer) measurements.
