The USP8 mutational status may predict long-term remission in patients with Cushing's disease
Clinical Endocrinology Jul 13, 2018
Albani A, et al. - Given that the USP8 mutational status could predict remission in patients with Cushing's disease (CD), the researchers intended to compare the presence of somatic USP8 mutations with the rate of recurrence after transsphenoidal surgery (TSS) retrospectively. For the purpose of this investigation, biochemical, radiological and clinical data were retrospectively evaluated in 48 subjects. Study participants were patients with Cushing's disease from a single centre who underwent TSS between 1991 and 2012. In patients with USP8 mutant corticotroph tumours, recurrence seemed to be more frequent and earlier after TSS.
