The efficacy of tranexamic acid for brain injury: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
The American Journal of Emergency Medicine Nov 15, 2019
Chen H, et al. - Researchers performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to determine the efficacy of tranexamic acid for traumatic brain injury. Searching PubMed, EMbase, Web of science, EBSCO, and Cochrane library databases, six RCTs were included in this meta-analysis. In patients with traumatic brain injury, tranexamic acid vs placebo results in remarkably decreased mortality and growth of hemorrhagic mass, but has no important impact on neurosurgery, extracranial surgery, unfavorable outcome (Glasgow Outcome Scale, GOS), pulmonary embolism, and deep venous thrombosis.
