The efficacy of T2 magnetic resonance assay in monitoring candidemia after the initiation of antifungal therapy: The Serial Therapeutic and Antifungal Monitoring Protocol (STAMP) trial
Journal of Clinical Microbiology Feb 14, 2018
Mylonakis E, et al. - The authors undertook a multicenter clinical trial to investigate the performance of T2 Magnetic Resonance (T2MR) assay in monitoring candidemia clearance after the initiation of antifungal therapy compared to blood culture. They observed that in patients receiving antifungal therapy, T2MR significantly outperformed blood cultures in monitoring the clearance of candidemia. Findings thereby suggested that T2MR could be useful in determining adequate source control, timing for de-escalation and optimal duration of treatment.
