The efficacy of superior oblique posterior tenectomy in the treatment of A-pattern exotropia without ocular intorsion: A retrospective study
BMC Ophthalmology Jan 29, 2020
Wei Y, et al. - In this retrospective study involving 18 individuals (36 eyes), mean age was 15 years, researchers assessed the surgical outcomes of the bilateral superior oblique posterior tenectomy procedure to treat A-pattern strabismus patients who had bilateral superior oblique overaction without objective ocular intorsion. Study participants included patients who had bilateral superior oblique posterior tenectomy and simultaneous horizontal rectus muscle surgery. According to findings, superior oblique posterior tenectomy surgery selectively improved the A-pattern and superior oblique overaction but did not affect the vertical primary position deviation as well as the ocular torsion. The treatment of the mild to moderate superior oblique overaction associated with A pattern strabismus without ocular intorsion is an important technique.
